✼ Collective Expectations ✼

To keep Soma a welcoming and intentional space, there are a few non-negotiables we ask of everyone:

  • Respect for Country ~ we gather on Wiradjuri land. Honour Country, its custodians, tread with care and leave no trace.
  • Collective care ~ take care of your friends, fellow dancers, and yourself. Looking after one another is what makes this space possible.
  • Respect & safety ~ harassment, bullying, racism, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, ablelism, Zionism, Islamophobia, antisemitism or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. Consent is non-negotiable. If you see something that doesn't feel right, say something.
  • Be present ~ keep phone use to a minimum on the dancefloor. Please respect others' privacy and embrace the chance to disconnect and express freely.
  • Connection ~ come open, curious, and kind. Soma is built on shared moments and meaningful connections with others.

Ticketing & Resale

  • Tickets and vehicle passes can be purchased via Resident Advisor. Payment plans are available via RA's Deposit Tickets plan (pay in 2) via the main ticketing page, or PayPal Pay in 4 at checkout.
  • Resale and name changes can only be processed through Resident Advisor's official resale platform. We cannot guarantee the validity of any ticket purchased elsewhere.
  • Ticketing terms and conditions are here.

Accessibility

We are committed to making Soma welcoming for all. Please reach out at hello@soma-festival.com if you have accessibility questions or requirements so we can do our best to support you.

  • The site is a greenfield farm property: it is hilly and uneven in sections, and weather conditions can significantly impact the landscape.
  • Unfortunately, the site is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Accessible parking will be available close to the main area and campground - please get in touch to notify us ahead of the event if you require this.
  • Gender-neutral toilets and an accessible restroom will be on site, equipped with bins and handwashing facilities.
  • Strobe lights, lasers and smoke may be used, but quieter low stimulus spaces will be available.
  • A site map will be sent to ticket holders ahead of the event.

Safety & Wellbeing

  • We are committed to creating a safer and inclusive space for everyone.
  • Zero tolerance for harassment, racism, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Consent always - respect personal space and boundaries.
  • Dancewize Harm Minimisation team will be present on site and roving the event space to support you.
  • Medical tent with accredited paramedics on site.
  • Info tent with volunteers and event staff to provide support and answer questions.

Accommodation

  • Soma is an on-site camping event, with plenty of space to pitch a tent and create a home for the weekend.
  • There will be a dedicated space for van camping, just a short walk from the main camping area. These two areas are separated for safety reasons.
  • There will be no pass outs available.

Getting there & opening times

  • Soma Festival will be held on Wiradjuri Land, Mount Adrah NSW. The site is about 4.5 hours from Eora/Sydney and 5 hours from Naarm/Melbourne.
  • The site will open from Friday 12pm, with programming commencing at 3pm. All patrons will be requested to leave the event site on the afternoon of Monday 10th November.
  • All cars entering the festival will require a car pass. These must be purchased via prior to the event.

Sustainability

We are fortunate enough to be holding Soma at a beautiful private property in Wiradjuri Country. As organisers, we aim to tread as lightly as possible in respect of the land we are so privileged to come together on, and we ask that all attendees do the same to reduce our individual and collective impact. This is a leave no trace event.

What we're doing:

  • Single use plastic ban - no plastic bottles sold on site.
  • Comprehensive waste sorting systems to minimise landfill waste.
  • Directing carpass proceeds towards environmental initiatives such as onsite regeneration and waste management.

Our asks of you:

  • Carpool - reduce our collective carbon emissions and save on your fuel costs.
  • BYO reusable water bottle water bottle - no plastic bottles will be sold on site.
  • Use the butt bins and vape recycling points provided.
  • Follow onsite instructions to sort your rubbish correctly to avoid contamination and minimise unnecessary waste sent to landfill.
  • Leave no trace - take everything you bring home with you

Food & Drinks

  • BYO is allowed, however there is strictly no glass on site for safety reasons. Attendees are required to exercise responsibility with their consumption of alcohol for the safety and comfortability of everyone on site. No alcohol will be sold on site.
  • A variety of food and coffee vendors will be on site, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
  • Free drinking water stations will be available across the site.
  • We encourage you to bring extra food and water too!
Artists Header

We will have a range of volunteer roles available to apply for. More information and an application form will be avaliable shortly and be announced via our socials.

Soma acknowledges our event, and all the work we undertake takes place on stolen land. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Wiradjuri Country, on which our event takes place. We pay our deepest respects to Wiradjuri Elders past and present, and honour the enduring connections to land, knowledge, art and stories of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
